Simply Amazing
Previewed on 06 September 2007

To the Canon PowerShot SX100IS, everyone can be a good photographer. Such is the ‘friendliness’ of the SX100 that it genuinely embodies the Powershot maxim of ‘incredible versatility and ease of use.’

One of the first signs of the versatility of the SX100 is its vision of up to a farseeing 10x in optical zoom. As such, no matter how far you are away from the crowd, the affable SX100 guarantees that none of those flamboyant or embarrassing actions of your friends and relatives will be missed. Also, the SX100 makes sure that those amusing moments are vividly displayed, even when enlarged, with its 8 megapixels image sensor.

In case you and your group cannot wait for the printout to relive the moment or laugh at the unfortunate subject, the camera’s large 2.5-inch LCD takes care of everyone with its wide-viewing angle for all to see.

As for controls, ease of use cannot be more apparent. The users have the Canon proprietary DIGIC III image processor to thank for this, as it automatically tunes for the optimal camera setting for a particular scene just before the shot is taken, so that its user is only responsible for the creative aspect in composition.

To make shooting easier, up to 18 shooting modes are in store. For example, the Creative Zone gives you more manual control and the Special Scene Mode offers a spectrum of choices. There is also a My Colours option that allows in-camera colour effects to be applied to images and movies. All these are accessible via a clear and simple interface with large and clearly labelled buttons and control dial that enhance usability and ease of operation for every user.
