I'm in the market to upgrade my nikon D70 6mp to maybe a D90 12MP. My main reason for upgading would be for megapixels. I would also be buying new lenses also. I'm a bit concerned that it appeared Nikon is introdusing FX size sensors. I would bet that in the future we will see Dx format cameras made obsolete? What do I then do with my Dx lenses? Should I bit the bullet and buy a D700 FX format now and invest in FX format lenses to get longer life out of my lenses? Statistically my lenses life span is far greater than my cameras. EG I still use my 80-200 f2.8 ED that I've been using for the last 9 years and it's still going strong where as my F5 that I paid 5K for is still very usfull... as a paper weight! Interestingly we use to see a new pro film camera ever7 odd years now we are seeing a new digital pro film camera almost every year.

Gentlemen,

I wonder whether I might ask you for a bit of unbiased advice please?

I will possibly be in Hongkong towards the end of this month or early October when I will want to buy a dslr camera from you. My choice has narrowed to either the new Nikon D90 or the Canon 50D. In either case I will also want to buy their new 18-200mm VR/IS lenses.

At this stage I slightly prefer the Nikon D90 because of its lighter weight and, possibly its movie mode. On the other hand the Canon seesm the better (?) camera. For me a difficult choice; and I am not letting the price difference influence me.

I hope that you do not mind me asking you this question. If I can't get to Hongkong I could always but direct from you. Can I get a warranty from you that can be honoured in Australia?

You have a wonderful site and I love watching your reviews.

Regards

Bert.
