The Canon XL H1A HD Professional HDV Camcorder was developed using the feedback of professional cameramen and is equipped with all the needed functionality that a professional requires. Recording High Definition Video (HDV) 1080i to affordable HDV tapes, it provides stunning image quality and offers various shooting modes that yield different effects. With 50i shooting to deliver crisp and true-to-life- video, the 25F shooting option is designed to give the look and feel of traditional film. The XL H1A's 1/3-inch 1.67 megapixels 3CCD system delivers outstanding quality on your HD monitor. The camcorder's L-series HD Video Lens brings a versatile 20x optical zoom and provides separate manual focus, zoom and aperture control.

Canon's DIGIC DV II image processor handles the large amount of image data that HD video contains and features advanced noise reduction technology to achieve the crispest images. Taking high quality High Definition Video to new levels, the freedom of control enjoyed on the Canon XL H1A also gives users the competitive edge. Custom settings can be saved to SD/MMC card and cards can be shared between camcorders and can even be transferred to Canon's XH series models. The Canon XL H1A features 2-channel XLR audio recording: each channel has an independent limiter and full auto/manual options. The supplied stereo microphone can also be used as a mono microphone recording to one channel.
