I recently updated WinXP to SP3 and like everyone else can't the the lousy VideoCam Suite software to work. Try this. Connect the camcorder to your USB port and just copy the *.mod files to your PC. Rename the .MOD files to .MPG. You should now be able to play them in Windows Media Player (and I assume other software). Have not yet compared the quality with previously downloaded copies using UCS.
And: Shame on you Panasonic! Never again another camcorder!

Software will not work consistantly or at all. Same problem as everyone that probably has one of these cameras and not the exact computer the software was designed to run on. I got NERO DVD burn software and am now able to see the camera hard drive and recognize my videos. I have Windows XP but as long as you get the right NERO software your troubles will probably be forgotten. After learning of doing it like this I'm really glad the Panasonic software didn't work because I'm sure I have a much better handle on how I want my videos burned to DVD.

What's up with the problematic importing functions?
I'm using a PC (Windows XP) notebook; I can transfer the files onto the PC but they're all in oddball .MOD and .MOI formats, none of which are compatible with Windows MEdia Player or Windows Movie Maker (it says they aren't even media files at all).
My question is whether I have to use the dinky VideoCam Suite that came with it or what, because it really sucks and I just want to edit with Pinnacle or something else....
there has got to be another way to see my movie clips on this notebook.
