The
Panasonic SDR-H60 is a 60GB Hard Disk Drive Camcorder
that enables further storage to an additional SD/SDHC card. With a stunning 50x
optical zoom power, bring with you the power to take dramatic close-ups or get
remarkable shots of even distant subjects. While the slightest hand shake can
have a huge effect on long-distance zoom shots, the Panasonic SDR-H60 makes sure
there are none with Advanced Optical Image Stabilisation. Using gyrosensors to
detect hand shake, the lens is able to shift to compensate and suppress the
chances of blurring, with no image quality lost.
Holding as much data as 43 DVD discs, the Panasonic SDR-H60 gives you all the
time and space to shoot on its 60GB hard disk with continuous recording up to 54
hours (in LP mode). This hard disk drive camcorder has a USB Host function,
which lets you connect directly to a DVD burner (sold separately) via a USB
cable. You can then copy recordings from the hard disk to a DVD disc by simply
pressing a button. A 2.7-inch Wide LCD gives all the clarity and colour for
soothing view of your videos and still images. Video is recorded in the high
compression and high quality MPEG2 format.
Panasonic’s Anti-Shock Shield helps protect recorded video data from damage due
to jolts and impact. The Drop Detect function senses if the camera is falling
and moves the head away from the hard disk. The Floating Structure protects the
hard disk should the camera fall or be dropped. The buffer memory automatically
backs up data while the camera is falling.

Had this model for approx 3 months, my previous model was a JVC mini tapes model. rnThe panasonic is lighter and I find a lot easier to use, the menu is easily accessible and after a few minutes playing around with the functions, it really is simple to use.rnA good zoom facility albeit as you would expect if using the maximum zoom then a tripod is recommended. With a Hard drive recording time of over 5 hours it is good not having to carry spare tapes. The storage modes are a 160gb hard drive or you can store on a SD/SDHC memory card, I store video on the hard drive and still photo's on the SDHC card (I use 8gb Card) The still camera is good as in it is fantastic at capturing moving images, but dont expect the top of the range spec with the still camera side, I have found the photo's to be adequate snap shots... but not excellent quality pictures. rnMovies can be transferred direct to a pcvia a USB lead, or you can transfer directly onto an independant DVD burner without the need of a PC .rnAccessories such as spare batteries are currently on the costly side, and beware non Panasonic copies may not fit the camcorder.. (A lesson I quickly learnt)rnrnAll in all I would rate this model as 8 out of 10
Does this camcorder shoot in HD or does it not. I have read some reviews that say it is not an HD camcorder? Also does it have stabilzation, and does it have good enough sound qulity for snowboardingso you are able to hear clearly?
No, this is not an HD camera. The HD on the side refers to Hard Disc! The sound quality is exceptional, although whilst snowboarding I'd imagine any camera would struggle; ie with wind rush!
