Previewed on 6 May 2008
As the temperature rises and the weather begins to heat up, this has become nature’s way of telling us that summer is fast approaching in the northern hemisphere. It’s an affectionate reminder of the fun we’re about to have under the scorching sun and whether you choose to frolic by the beach or stay lounging by the poolside, nothing quite beats the fun and convenience of having a waterproof camera by your side. If you find yourself without one, there’s no need to sulk and despair because Sanyo has released just the news for you. Announced recently, Sanyo is readying the release of the all new Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8, an exciting 8 megapixels digital movie camera that can take the plunges and dives into water and capture all the fun as it happens from above ground to under water.

As the old saying going goes, we’re told ‘never to judge a book by its cover’ but to further add to this saying, a cover can also speak lengths about the story inside. In which case, the Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8 has both the looks and functionality to be a camera made for the fun and active. Carrying with it a very strong summery feel, it comes decked out in a choice of three vibrant colours and even resembles somewhat of a jet ski. Capturing images with an 8 megapixels CMOS sensor, it comes paired with a 5x optical zoom and a 2.5 inch LCD screen. Rated with a JIS IPX5/IPX8 qualification, this camera can plunge itself up to 1.5 meters deep into water and for up to 60 minutes, giving you certainly enough time to play around and take pictures underwater. To further complement this ability, it even has a new underwater scene mode to allow colours to turn out more true and clear.
While it makes an excellent choice of a camera for water sports in the summer, Sanyo has further put in the claim that it can even withstand the likes of snow-related water, rain, water spray, splash and even submersion. Therefore, this is literally a camera made for all weathers, but besides just taking photos at an 8 megapixels resolution, video recording capabilities seem just as nice. With smooth movie recording and playback at 60 frames per second, videos are recorded in the high quality MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format. Both still image and movie captures also benefit from Sanyo’s new ‘Face Chaser’ function, which can track up to a total of 12 faces for automatic optimum adjustment of focus and exposure.

Anticipating plenty of action and wild splashes in its future, the waterproof Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8 is equipped with Digital Image Stabiliser to keep images blur-free from shaky hands and fast movement. Suitable for a range of weathers and activities, its compact and unique form makes it handy to carry and fashionable all at the same time. From sports enthusiasts to those longing for a camera that can withstand the rain, snow or even a dunk into water, look no further, the Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8 will be arriving here at DigitalRev soon by the middle of May. |
