This is a large-aperture lens with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for Digital SLR Cameras, but are still suitable for traditional 35mm SLRs.

The Optical Stabiliser (OS) function, developed with Sigma's own technology, compensates for any camera shakes. Using Sigma's original OS function, two types of sensors inside the lens detect vertical and horizontal movement of the camera. To deal with all kinds of photographic situations, the system has two camera-shake compensation modes: one which detects and compensates for both vertical and horizontal movement and another which compensates for vertical movement only.
