The Nikon D5000 - Heralding a New Beginning
15 April 2009
As expected, following the announcement by Canon of their new DSLR, Nikon has announced their latest DSLR, the Nikon D5000. Delivering the same D-Movie feature as the Nikon D90, you will be able to record high definition movie clips up to a resolution of 1280x720 at 24fps. The autofocus during movie recording is still missing but other than that, the D5000 looks like a fairly solid camera for its class. With a 12.3 megapixels DX format CMOS image sensor and four easily selectable AF modes for sharp results with Live View, you will enjoy your photography and be creative at the same time with the options of Face priority AF, Wide area AF, Normal area AF and Subject Tracking AF, which keeps the camera focused on a moving subject even if it leaves the frame for a moment. You are also afforded detailed controls with a wide ISO sensitivity range of ISO 100 to ISO 6400 (extended) which you can set in steps of 1/3 EV. The D5000 also boasts features such as the Integrated Dust Reduction System, a continuous burst performance of up to 4fps and an 11-point AF system.
Innovative Vari-Angle LCD
A distinction in the design of the D5000 is its vari-angle 2.7-inch LCD which makes it easy to shoot from any angle, making Live View even more appealing. You can flip, tilt or turn the LCD to take shots from above, below, to the side, or to create self-portraits and you also gain the added benefits of turning the LCD to face inwards to keep it safe from accidental bumps or scratches.

JUST PERFECT...
ITS A D90 WITH BETTER STUFF, I DONT KNOW WHY IT'S RANGED AS A LOWER CAMERA THAN THE D90 JUST BECAUSE DE D90 HAS A MORE SOFISTICATED BODY ... I DO NOT GET IT....
I MEAN IF THIS IS A CAMERA FOR PHOTOGRAPHY YOU WILL GET THE EXACT SAME RESULTS AS A D90.
IM BUYING IT.

I would suggest that Nikon spend more effort on improvement to image quality and better sensor rather than filling it up with wasteful gadgets. I am looking for new DSLR but will pass on this. Lets see some quality like on medium format DSLR Nikon!!
