Pixel and Sensor Size
With more megapixels on the sensor, this provides greater detail reproduction and more realistic colours in your image captured. While all this holds true, megapixels are by no means the yardstick for image quality and when you consider image quality, it’s also important to consider the size of each pixel on the sensor and the sensor size. Since DSLRs hold much larger pixels on a much larger sensor, they are able to produce better quality images. Since more light is captured by the sensor, this enables taking pictures in low light or with faster shutter speeds. In the process of choosing a DSLR, megapixels become only a matter depending on the size of prints you wish to make.
