This is of course a given, you can’t take photos without a medium to store them in and DSLR kits don’t generally come with memory cards. If one isn’t offered when you make your purchase you should definitely ask for one. Find a type that’s compatible with your camera and then decide how much storage you want and whether you want a high speed memory card.
